Critical Requirement: Pre-Entry Is Mandatory

You must complete your campaign entry before heading to the store or submitting your application. The good news is it takes about thirty seconds:

Log in with your Rakuten ID — that's it, you're in

Your entry stays valid through the end of the month two months after you registered (what Rakuten calls "翌々月末" in Japanese).

Heads up: Skip this step before applying and you'll miss out on the points entirely — even if everything else goes smoothly. Do this first, then head to the store.

Applying In-Store

Rakuten Mobile has physical locations (Rakuten Mobile Shop) dotted all across Japan, and this campaign works at any official store. A couple of things worth knowing:

You do not need to give the employee's name
You do not need an invitation code from the employee
Just show that you've logged in with your Rakuten ID to complete the entry, then carry on with your in-store application as normal

For non-Japanese speakers: Staff at bigger stores in major cities (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, etc.) often speak some English. Bring your Residence Card (在留カード, Zairyu Card) and passport for ID verification — you'll need both.

Conditions to Receive the Points

Once your entry is done, you need to tick off both of the following before the end of the month two months after your entry date:

Complete your application (sign up for a plan)
Make a phone call of 10 seconds or more using the Rakuten Link app

Rakuten Link is Rakuten Mobile's free calling app. Once your SIM is activated, download the app, dial any number — a friend, a family member, or even just a test line — and stay on the call for at least 10 seconds. That's all it takes to clear this condition.

The Rakuten Strongest Plan (楽天最強プラン) runs on tiered pricing based on how much data you actually use:

Up to 3 GB: ¥1,078/month
3 GB – 20 GB: ¥2,178/month
Over 20 GB (unlimited data): ¥3,278/month

Family discounts and age-based discount programs (for youth and children) are also on the table, so your actual monthly bill could end up even lower.
